Important role of the Institute of Applied Linguistics (IAL) formed in St.Petersburg State Polytechnical University (SPSPU) in changing and deepening the contents of modern foreign language teaching is considered. Possibilities of bachelor training for international IELTS examination are analyzed. The foreign language workload is proposed to be increased and distributed in three disciplines realized as Federal, institutional and elective curriculum components.
