Problems of general physics teaching in Russian universities are discussed. The directions of Russian Federation Ministry of Science and Education Scientific-methodical council on physics activity on the base of SPbSPU are analyzed. The coordination function of this council in physics model program creation, large scientific-methodical conferences organization and in the field of education text-books publishing is emphasized. The importance of physical laboratories and demonstration lecture experiments is marked. The necessity of propaedeutic component improvement and special school pupils preparation is shown.
