The connection between new social reality in Russia and changes in the education system, including its humanization, are considered. The contents and the role of humanization in engineering education are shown. The thesis about the social nature of technology which is relatively independent of technical content of science is proposed. The scientific research of the laws of the material and technological development is largely related to the humanities and social sciences. Conclusions about the humanization as a means of transition to system education, the subject of which is a society, are made.
