Abstract:

Shown that the free surface of a free flow coincides with the characteristic Lagrange equations for a minimum of (extreme) pressure loss. Stratification of flow characteristics, therefore, immersed in a bunch of extremals. The free surface of the head loss and dissipation is minimal.
