Abstract:

Recently, intermetallic compounds based on 3 d-transition elements and 4f-rare earth elements are widely used in the manufacture of permanent magnets. Among the compounds of iron and rare earth elements, compounds R2Fe17 (R-rare earth elements) have the highest iron content and therefore the highest saturation magnetization. But R2Fe17 but not directly used for the manufacture of permanent magnets because of the low Curie temperature and magnetic flat crystalline anisotropy. The paper presents a review of ways nitriding Sm2Fe17 powders and their influence on the phase composition and magnetic properties of the compound Sm2Fe17Nx.
