The essay is dedicated to the life and scientific and pedagogical activity of outstanding scientist in the field of chemical physics, a member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and of many academies of other countries, Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1956 Nikolay Nikolaevich Semenov, a long time taught at the Petrograd (Leningrad) Polytechnic Institute.
