Compared to traditional science-based innovation, the more often practice is observed as a source for innovation, characterizing more open innovation process. This paper discusses the conceptual aspects of practice-based innovation based on the system approach, evaluates role of innovation potential, absorptive capacity, social capital, innovation intermediaries, and analyzes the require- ments set to the external environment aiming to stimulate practice-based innovation.
